BBB Ball 2024

It's a wrap!

What’s up everyone!

The Bearded Brotherhood Ball for 2024, also known as the Epic Hammer-In benefitting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, was a huge success!

!!We were able to raise $5,277 – all of which is going directly to the NPCF!!

We want to thank everyone that came out and/or donated. We couldn’t have done it without you all!

Highlights

Friday kicked off with a class on sculpting animal heads, taught by Kirk Sullens, and the setting of pommel stones, taught by James Worm. We also had a number of open forges, and work began on the group project, a big ass hand-forged cancer ribbon stamped by all blacksmiths in attendance.

Friday night saw the traditional competitions, gracefully overseen by Chris Maybury. There were two challenges, one to create a tiny hammer (pendant sized), and one to make a blacksmith/viking knife. Both challenges were set with 20 minute time limits. Competitors dug deep and came up with some fantastic pieces!

Saturday morning, Jeffrey McGuffrey taught a class on forging a Russian rose.

Iron in the Hat

This traditional “raffle” if you will, was above and beyond any others that many of our members had been to thanks to our sponsors

Hatchet Competition

Members were encouraged to forge a hatchet or tomahawk for the event. Master Smith Elmer Roush, and Forged in Fire’s David Baker served as judges. Jordan Borstelman won this round, but Dakota Coon, was the real winner, coming in a close 2nd and taking home the prize of a new Swage Block contributed by Holland Anvil!

Following the beauty pageant, members lined up to take turns throwing their axe at a target provided by Jackson Building Supply, as well as a chop test. Both of these tests were overseen by Juggernaut of Freedom Forge Tactical.

What’s next?

This event was the largest the BBB has ever put on, and we frickin LOVED it! We were able to expand the brotherhood, bringing folks from all over the nation to join in, and it was all to support such a great cause.

We are already in talks about continuing this for our future events, so stay tuned!
